How feasible is Robotic Process Automation for an IT startup? Is it cheaper than employing humans?


The answer to this question is it depends on different factors. Specifically the following factors.
  1. Nature of business
Some business can be more easily automated than others. For example if your business requires you to do a lot of the following things :
  • Web Scraping and Crawling
  • Desktop Redundant Tasks
  • Web Automation
  • Social Media Posts
You should think about automation.

2. Stage of your business
If you are figuring your business out for your self and have just started out. Going for automation is not a good idea. So if you are a young entrepreneur probably a better idea is to devise systems and then automate. Whereas if you are an established business this could be the cutting edge you need to grow and sustain.

3. Clarity of flow
Perhaps the biggest thing to consider is the clarity of flow when you are about to automate. If you know your business process very well, then of-course it can be fully or partially automated. Automation requires you to understand what you want perfectly well and be clear about your flow.

4. Cost and time consumption
This is ultimately the deciding factor weather you should go for automation or not. You as a business need to ask your self what is the cost that you are currently incurring for your non-automated work? What is the time consumed for it? Then you need to calculate how much cost and time savings you will achieve if you actually do automate. If the benefits to you as a business are more than go for automation.
